- Upper margin laid down on mount; verso w. traces of former mounting in left margin (sl. shining through).
= Bridsaard was a small village in Hennaarderadeel, Friesland, and now part of Wommels.
= Provenance: auction Mak van Waay, Amsterdam 1964. From the collecion of C.P. van Eeghen, verso with his collector's stamp in red (Lugt 6016).
- Title supplied in pencil on verso and (w. artist) in pen and ink on remnants of former paper passepartout.
- One large closed tear; partly sl. foxed.
= A view of the Weesperpoort (Amsterdam) forming the centre of the composition. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CXXVII.
- Mediocre condition: folded three times and w. closed splits on folds (tape shining through on recto); yellowed; sl. creased and soiled in margins.
- Tipped onto contemp. thick paper mount.
= On paper showing a part of a large watermark of a knight. With attribution on mount.
- Heavy craquelure; sl. soiled.
= On 17th century laid paper with a vague unidentified (partial?) watermark.
= On laid paper with Amsterdam coat of arms. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CXXVIII.
= On verso a contemp. annotation in pencil: "Aqua Citola 1674". SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CXXVIII.
- Some very vague folds/ creases. Verso some sm. brown stains, sl. shining through and 3 rubbed spots in upper margin from former mounting.
- Crease near left edge; nevertheless fine.
= On paper with large "Pro Patria" watermark. With attribution on verso mount.
- Doubled. Unevenly browned and w. brown stains, mostly in upper part.
= A 17th century drawing after the painting, on laid paper with watermark of a cross within a chaplet (probably French).
- A few vague foxed spots; a few tiny defects to the paper/ ink in left part. Not examined outside frame.
