= Lindeboom 143: "A year after the Institutiones Boerhaave published another book, the Aphorismi de cognoscendis et curandis morbis. It was dated 1709, but probably came out at the end of 1708. It is a collection of short pronouncements concerning the diagnosis and therapy of various diseases. Apparently Boerhaave emulated Hippocrates to a certain extent in this work. If possible this work was still more in demand than the previous one and numerous editions spread the fame of the author."
