- Beautiful copy of this magnificent wallmap entirely in remarkably fresh contemporary. handcolouring. The fine contemp. binding is trifle rubbed along extremities and shows some traces of acid bite from mottling.
(...) Fockema Andreae 72-73; Postma, Inleiding reprint 1977; J.F. Heijbroek a.o., Kunst in kaart, p.15-17. One of the highlights in the history of Dutch cartography. The 1750 edition of the reduced map differs from the 1712 edition in its less abundant and less detailed depiction of the numerous waterways and ditches in the countryside areas.. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE L.
- Reduced map loosely inserted and doubled w. Japanese; 2 maps w. waterstain in upper right corner (just touching the image); one of the title-engravings w. sm. restoration in lower right blank corner; new endpapers. Lower quarter of frontcover darkened and leather sl. bubbly (probably by damp); lower cover restored along outer margin. Otherwise fine.

= Splendid plan, a highlight in Dutch mapmaking and engraving, produced on the initiative of the former Delft mayor D.E. van Bleyswijk between 1675-1678. Usually found in the present form, but the most complete version includes a profile and 25 views, all printed from separate plates.

= Very rare and interesting plan concerning the extreme beach erosion at Egmond aan Zee, from which the village had suffered since its settlement. The plan shows the erosion that occurred between 1686 and 1718 and the dikes built to prevent further loss of land and to save the church, its tower now with its front directly on the beach. Unfortunately, however, these dikes could not prevent the entire church and 36 houses from being swallowed by the sea during a December storm in 1741. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LI.
- Vertical fold in centre; a few wormholes/ foxed spots (mainly) in blank margins; contemp. annot. in lower blank margin. Nevertheless a fine copy.
