The very nice illustrations showing i.a. a cat, a whale, a skater and a mill.

= Nice and rare picture-book, the plates mainly depicting professions. Lust en Leering p.80 calls for 26 plates, but the copies that we could trace all had 25 plates. Ki.la.ki.le. 542; Lust en Leering p.80: "Een absolute topper op dit gebied [educatief-encyclopedische kinderboeken] is Het Nuttige Prentenboek (...). Het boek verscheen in 26 afleveringen (...) en elke aflevering bevatte één handgekleurde litho met een centraal geplaatste hoofdvoorstelling, waaromheen dan allerlei kleine, daaraan gerelateerde voorwerpen gegroepeerd werden. (...) Maar Het Nuttige Prentenboek bevat ook onversneden verhaalkost, 'wetenschappelijke [lees: rekenkundige] kunstjes' voor de jeugd en zelfs een enkel versje."
