= Illustrated haikai poetry, divided into the four seasons (vol. 1 spring and summer, vol 2. autumn and winter), depicting people engaged in various activites or situations of daily life (e.g. having tea, travelling, sweeping leaves, doing laundry, etc.). The embossed banana leaves on the cover refer to Matsu Bashô (bashô means 'Japanese fiber banana'), who played a major part in popularising haikai poetry.
