= Incl. one duplicate plate. Interesting provenance: the set was awarded as schoolprize ("1ere Classe 1er Prix 1808") at the "Ecole Vétérinaire d'Alfort [nowadays Maisons-Alfort, Val-de-Marne]". This veterinary school was established in 1765, and is still a highly esteemed institution. Included in the lot are two manuscript documents: a letter to his father by the student César Marangé who received the present set on graduating as the best of his class in 1808, and the (anonymous) text of the speech delivered at the burial of César Marangé in April 1872. In the affectionate and lively letter by César Marangé to his father he describes his pride and his deeply felt gratitude on receiving this grand set of "12 gros volumes par Mr. l'Abbé Rozier" out of the hands of the Minister of the Interior. He ends his letter with the eternal question bothering students, the lack of money: "Vous pouvez, si cela vous fait plaisir, m'envoyer de l'argent car je n'en ai plus guère. Répondez moi de suite et dites moi si vous ne m'envoyez pas d'argent dans votre lettre où j'en pourrais toucher ...".
