"Maar haar [A.B. van Meerten Schilperoort's] grootste roem geldt het tijdschrift voor dames Pénélopé (...). Het verscheen in 8 delen van 1821 tot 1835 bij haar vaste uitgever Beijerinck en is met zijn 192 handgekleurde platen op afstand het fraaiste en kostbaarste Nederlandse periodiek uit de negentiende eeuw. De prijs, honderdtwintig gulden, was er ook naar! Anna Barbera heeft trouwens steeds de hoogste eisen gesteld aan de uitvoering van haar geschriften.
