Knaven, p. 52/53: ''Eveneens een bekende wijzermachine, geïntroduceerd door Wernicke, Edelmann & Co., in Berlijn was de 'Edelmann' voorzien van een letterscala en een typecylinder. De machine had een dubbele omschakeling en de beïnkting geschiedde door een inktrolletje. Een bijzonderheid was dat men met deze machine een aantal doorslagen kon vervaardigen. In de reclame van deze vrij veel verkochte machine werd o.m. gezegd: 'Omdat de instelarm (ook wel instelsleutel genoemd) zowel met de rechter- als met de linkerhand bediend kan worden, kan de machine ook door eenaarmigen worden gebruikt, mits een schrijfmachinetafel met pedalen voor de omschakeling, spatietoets en regelverstelling ter beschikking staat. De instelarm kan ook bediend worden door een verminkte hand en zelfs door een stompje'. Reeds toen werd aan de gehandicapten gedacht, die door de vele oorlogen, die Duitsland heeft gevoerd, vaak in groten getale aanwezig waren. Enkele malen zijn de patenten van deze machine in andere handen overgegaan.''
