= Rare reprint of the original edition, which was privately issued by the author in 50 manuscript copies in Tokyo in 1951. This edition closely following the 1951 original, exactly executed after the latter and much less common than the one-volume 1989 reprint. The first volume is a detailed study of Chinese sexual life until the beginning of the Manchu period (1644) with special reference to Chinese erotic art, illustrated with genuine blockprints, made by a Japanese engraver as exact copies of the Ming originals. The second volume contains the original Chinese texts in facsimile handwriting. The third volume is a reprint of a 24-page Ming erotic album, struck from the original blocks [here facsimile] in the author's collection. Still the most authorative and extensive study on the subject.
