74/2292 [House of Orange]. (Everard, P.F. (19th cent.) (?)). Agenda 1830. N.pl., ±1830, (213)p., most pages w. manuscript entries, all most likely by Dr Pierre Everard, orig. giltlettered green boards, sm. 8vo.

- With loosely inserted unrelated letter. Corners and spine-ends sl. rubbed.

= Interesting diary, probably by the personal physician of King Willem II, in which he has entered many details concerning the medical condition of King Willem II, as well as his own social appointments. Dr Everard was the King's physician in 1830 and remained his doctor until the King died in 1849. He was not considered to be the best of physicians by those who knew him at court. Princess Sophie was an outspoken critic of him, especially following the death of Prince Alexander in 1848, which she blamed on Everard's mistreating of his illness. The diary contains numerous concise reports on the medical condition of Willem II (incl. the medicines prescribed for his various ailments), but also lists the numerous social activities mainly in and around Paleis Het Loo. Visitors are mentioned, with times of arrival and departure, intermingled with details of illnesses, miscarriages and news of local and (inter)national concern (such as a fire in the neighbourhood due to lightning, the death of George IV and ships that have arrived in Den Helder from the colonies.

74/2303 [Mulert family]. Archive concerning the Mulert [toe den Backenhage] family, consisting of 17 manuscript documents, dated between 1538-1807 (mostly 17th century), all vellum (1x w. attached manuscript writ on paper), 5x w. (parts of) wax seals still attached, remnants of 1 loose seal added in separate envelope.

= The history of the Mulert family can be traced back to the 14th century, in the vicinity of Zwolle. The Mulerts rose to the ranks of nobility and were linked to the Nassau family by the marriage of Joachim Ernst Baron Mulert tot de Leemcule (1750-1828) to Adriana Petronella Gravin van Nassau LaLecq, granddaughter of Willem Adriaan van Nassau Vrijheere van Bergen in Kennemerland Cortgeen (1704-1759). In 1609, Johan Mulert the Younger married Ida de Baecke, thus becoming the proprietor of the Backenhagen estate near Delden. Documents in this collection include the prenuptual agreement between the families of Johan Mulert and Ida de Baecke dated April 1st, 1609, Ida de Baecke's testament concerning property near Vollenhove signed August 1641, several letters of lien to their son Johan and grandson Johan Ludolph (i.a. by the Lieutenant-Stadtholder and the bishop of Cologne), a letter of commission for the former as council member of the Admiralty of northern Holland, and several debt notes.

The collection comprises 15 documents sold at the auction of R.W.P. de Vries in Amsterdam on November 26, 1902 (Catalogue d'une collection précieuse de manuscrits, lot 1055, URL on request) and two other documents, possibly related to Haaksbergen court and dated 1647(?) and November 1664. This collection is an important addition to the Mulert family archive that was sold in our rooms in May 2010, lot 3816, and represents unique source material concerning an important family for Overijssel history. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LVIII.

ADDED: an unrelated German manuscript on vellum, dated 1734, w. attached wax seal.
