= Willems 355; Steinschneider (under Moses Kimchi), p.1844, no.16. Influential and popular Hebrew grammar, written in the 12th century by Moses Kimhi and translated into Latin in 1508. Provenance: later owner's entry on title-p. of "F.[rantz] Thestrup" (1653-1735, bishop of Aalsborg). SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LXXX.

= Three rare Hebrew works on the laws of ritual slaughter. The first work is a handbook on the laws of ritual slaughter and examination of animals; the second work contains the laws themselves; the third work contains a poem on the subject. With interesting contemp. owner's entry on upper pastedown: "Dit boek is toebe[...?] aan Eekan[?] Salomon Snijder Onderwijzer in het leeren van Beeste snijden Volgens de Mozaische Wet van Artikel 1 (...)".

Heijnsbergen p.24: "Het belangrijkste van zijn geschriften is de Practica rerum criminalium. (...) Hoewel hij een trouw aanhanger van R.K. kerk was, werd zijn werk in 1625 op den index geplaatst. Het boek is vooral gewijd aan het strafprocesrecht en bijzondere delicten, minder aan algemeene leerstukken. (...) Voor de beschavingsgeschiedenis heeft het werk groot belang, omdat de schrijver meer geeft dan recht: hij vermeldt ook rechtstoepassing en maakt gewag van sociale toestanden, gebreken en misdadige verschijnselen in zijn tijd. Maar vooral ligt zijn beteekenis in den grooten invloed, die van zijn werk is uitgegaan op de rechtsstudie en rechtstoepassing. (...) Nog steeds is het de groote bron, waaruit de beoefenaar van de rechtsgeschiedenis put om theorie en practijk van het strafrecht in het midden der 16de eeuw te leeren kennen."
