= Hollstein/ Bartsch/ Dutuit 1, 3, 4, 6 and 9; cf. De Groot/ Vorstman 110-115; cat. Het rijk van Neptunus 33 a-c; Ackley 207-208. The 2nd (of 2) (Hollst. 1) and 3rd (of 3) state, with the name of the etcher and without the numbers on the etchings 3-6. According to Weigel only a few impressions of the second state with these numbers exist (the very rare first state are pure, unfinished etchings). The first etching without the six line verse by Backhuizen, printed from a separate plate. Famous and very rare etchings by Holland's leading marine painter, etched when he was at the age of 71.
