= Van Sinderen p.204: "Aart Klein ontwikkelde zich na de Tweede Wereldoorlog tot meester van de zwartwitfotografie - letterlijk, want door het onderdrukken van de grijstinten bleven alleen zwart en wit in zijn foto's over. (...) Klein was onder vak- en generatiegenoten de uitgesproken estheet. Naarmate hij ouder werd, drukte hij zijn foto's zelfs nog scherper af. De foto's kregen een zekere koelheid. Welhaast abstracte vlakverdeling en een strenge compositie voerden de boventoon. Menselijke aanwezigheid, zo al zichtbaar, was ondergeschikt aan de strenge vormgeving."
