Though almost exclusively a work of history, its political thesis is that the Princes of Orange always tried to subvert the constitution in order to acquire sovereign authority in the Dutch state." - Waterst. and mouldy at the beginning. Paper over covers almost completely worn off.
= Glazemaker clandestinely translated Spinoza, Descartes, Montaigne and the Quran. This rare anonymously published pamphlet, about the Triple Alliance of 1668, is the only known work for which Glazemaker acted as editor/ author and which he did not merely translate. = Rare pamphlets about the peasant uprisings ('Pachtersoproer') in the 18th-century Dutch Republic, caused by the dissatisfaction with the system of commercial tax-collection, with a map of Dam Square in Amsterdam indicating the civil militias during the revolt of June 28, 1748.
