Auf der schon häufig begangenen Wegen in Persien (...) wusste er doch viel Neues, auch naturwissenschaftlich, zu beobachten, und seine Reisebeschreibung, die Gebriel eine der besten aus jener Zeit nennt, verdiente wohl eine kritische Analyse und Würdigung.
