"His [Wijdeveld's] later poster designs, although few in number, display a freedom in design that the uniform Wendingen layouts lack. The 1929 poster for an International Exhibition on Economics and History is especially noteworthy. Here Wijdeveld's architectural background comes to the forefront, and the asymmetrical organization suggests that of a solid modern building using the brick construction methods of the Amsterdam School." (Purvis). This lot is subject to 4% resale royalties ('droit de suite') over the total amount of hammerprice and buyer's premium. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE II.

= One of the rare series of posters by an anonymous artist. (www.amsterdam.nlstadsarchief/stukken/verdwenen-amsterdam/wilde-plakker). It is said that only five posters, including this one, were distributed by the original mysterious artist, but the iconic posters inspired a lot of imitators.
