Populair zijn ze altijd geweest en ze waren er voor iedere doelgroep. Specifieke kinder- en jeugdalmanakken verschijnen hier echter pas sinds 1760 of daaromtrent, waarbij enkele de eeuwgrens passeerden, zoals de Almanach voor Meisjens, door Meisjens (...), de Almanak voor de beschaafde Jeugd (...) en de extreem zeldzame Prentjes Almanak voor Kinderen (1795-1840) van de firma Houtgraaf te Amsterdam.
