"Namurcum comitatus". Contemp. handcol. engr. map by J. SURHON, 41x52 cm., Amst., idem, 1647 (yellowed in blank margins. Van der Krogt/ Koeman II, 3340:2.1 ). - AND 1 map by F. DE WIT: "Marchionatus Sacri Imperii et Dominii Mechelini Tabula".
- Doubled; sm. tears/ lacking portions near upper edge neatly restored.

= Rare attractive map w. many decorative elements.
AND a title-engraving from the same work: "Provincia de Flandria".
- Some vague offsetting of col. areas; otherwise fine.
= Shows the area west and east of the Meuse river and south of the Sambre, the main tributary river to the Meuse, running through Namur.
- Slightly yellowed. = Rare view of the siege of Antwerp. Not in F.M.
AND another engraving with the same subject by C. DECKER (±1700. F.M. 911a).
- Left and right margin of worldmap trimmed to the border line and restored (remargined) and sl. wormholed in South-Pole on right hand; of the other engr. maps w. illustrated borders Poortman/ Augusteijn no. 3 and 5 are dam. in margin (w. loss of image); all maps are strengthened on folds and mostly also have strengthened margins (partly still w. some fraying); most maps yellowed/ browned on folds.
= Poortman/ Augusteijn chapter 21, no. 1, 2, 3, 3a, 4, 5 and 6 (ills. 72, 73, 75, 78, 79, 80 and 82). The 1st state (of 3) of the second series of bible maps by Petrus Plancius, published in ±1604. This second series is an adaptation of the first series by Plancius and Doetecom (the worldmap was left unaltered) (see Poortman/ Augustijn, chapter 18). On the worldmap see Shirley 177. = Van der Krogt/ Koeman I, 9850:1.1. Map of Eastern Brazil with detail confined to the coastlines and oriented with north to the right of the chart. The interior is filled with small vignettes of indigenous animals and native scenes including cannibalism. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LXXXIII.

- A few wormholes; vague waterstain in lower part near edge; otherwise fine.
