- Duststained; sm. closed tear in the caption; sl. rubbed along the upper edge; vague waterstain in lower part; paper remnants of former passepartout on verso.
= On thick, probably late 17th/ 18th cent. laid paper. De Vesme 93, prob. 4th state of 4.
= Depicting cartouches/ ornaments (4x) and lions (margins sl. dam.).
- Upper margin frayed, a few sm. tears just within the image; sl. yellowed; central vertical fold strengthened on verso.
= The only known print by Cornelius van Bellekin, from JEAN LE CARPENTIER, L'Histoire généalogique des Pais-Bas ou Histoire du Cambray et du Cambresis (Leiden, 1664). It shows the states general of the prince-bishopry of Cambray in session. Van Bellekin is mostly known as a painter and engraver of mother-of-pearl.
- First and last blank yellowed from offsetting of wr.
= Extremely rare: only one other copy traced, at the auction of the collection M.Ch.van Hulthem, Ghent, 1846. From the collection of P.J. and L. Buijnsters-Smets. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE XCVII.
- Upper margin sl. cut short as often; a dark and strong impression.

- Without the titles and textlvs. First volume most lvs. soiled/ w. stains, mostly in margins; a few prints cut on the platemark and later laid down; the Paradigmata series lacks plate 44 and 47; all plates cut a few mm outside the platemark and tipped-in on contemp. lvs.; a few plates w. sm. stains.
= On the first series ("Icones"): Bolten, Dutch and Flemish Drawing Books p.69-70 describes the editio princeps of ±1669 with a few dedication and contents leaves, the etchings unnumbered. On both series: cf. in extenso: J.G. van Gelder and I. Jost, Jan de Bisschop and his Icones & Paradigmata (...) (Doornspijk, 1985); cf. Hollstein 6 (a very incomplete entry). The first series reproducing Greek and Roman sculpture, the second series after i.a. Caracci, Dominichino and Michelangelo.
- Fine, w. ample margins. = Le Blanc 1, rare early/ first state before the letters. On 18th century laid paper.
- Traces of former tipping-in on verso in corners (partly w. some dam.); vague foxed spot near Gideon's right foot; a few obligue folds in lower left quarter (not visible on recto); trimmed to the border/ just inside top border).
