FINE ARTS - 16th-19th CENTURY DRAWINGS, WATERCOLOURS and PAINTINGS
(incl. drawings of Haarlem and surroundings from the collection A.M. van den Broek)
= Most probably by Daniel Dupré (1752-1817). There is no 18th century artist known as J. Weissenbruch. It appears to be added later.
= On woven paper. In the style of Egbert van Drielst. Cf. the drawing (RP-T-1918-20) by Van Drielst and the etching by Hendrik Schwegman (1761-1816) after Van Drielst in Rijksmuseum (RP-P-OB-59.363), with a very similar composition. On verso a attribution (?) to "v. Huysum". Schwegman made prints both after Van Huysum and Van Drielst. So perhaps by him.
- A few foxed spots.
AND 5 others, incl. 2 drawings with attribution to Jan LUTGERS on verso: (A farm on a ditch and surrounded by trees and meadows) (watercolour, 19x26 cm.) and (View of a village with a church) (brush and grey wash, 8x13,8 cm. Creased in lower right corner) and incl. Jan Elias KIKKERT, (Cows in a meadow, a farm in the background) (watercolour, 23,5x19 cm., signed and dated "1878" in pen and ink in lower left corner).
- Doubled; a few foxed spots; w. closed vertical tear in right part.
= Attractive and lively view of the coast with a ship and windmills in the background.
- Some soiling/ sl. yellowed; upper margin laid down on mount; lower blank margin sl. surface dam.
= With later annotation "Studie van A. Mauve - Josef Israels". SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CXV.
