= Interesting document, signed by the famous Dutch admiral Michiel Adriaansz de Ruyter, concerning the price received for the French ship Régine. The ship was captured from the French by Michiel de Ruyter in the year 1657. Its captain Lalande and his crew were put ashore in Barcelona, whilst de Ruyter kept the ship. Instead of sending the Régine to the Netherlands, he sold her for 10.000 realen to the Duke of Medina Celi. The capture of the ship caused a lot of commotion and almost resulted in a war between France and the Dutch Republic. In order to conciliate both parties De Ruyter had to buy the Régine back from the Duke of Medina Celi. (See: Ronald Prud'homme van Reine, Rechterhand van Nederland (Amst., 1996), p. 98-99). 80/2669 [Sciences]. Kistemaker, Jacob (1917-2010). AUTOGRAPH TREATISE SIGNED "J. Kistemaker", addressed to "René Vlug (...)", dated "2 Dec 1996", black ballpoint, 1 leaf w. printed letterhead of "FOM Instituut voor Atoom- en Molecuulfysica", 2p.

= Jacob ("Jaap") Kistemaker was a pioneer in the field of uranium isotope separation. In the 50s he developed a method for separating uranium isotopes with mass spectrometry. After that he developed the principle of uranium enrichment with ultracentrifuges together with fellow-researcher Joop Los. Nowadays this technology is used to produce uranium for use in nuclear fuel reactors, amongst others by Urenco in Almelo, that was founded partly on the basis of his research. In the 60s and 70s Kistemaker led a successful research program in the field of atomic and molecular physics. With his research, Kistemaker has played a key role in the development of physics in the Netherlands after the Second World War. (source: www.amolf.nl).

= Letter to the "Heeren Directeuren van de Hollandsche Maatschappije der Weetenschappen" in which Klinkenberg accepts the invitation for the membership of the society. Klinkenberg was a mathematician and renowned astronomer (he discovered several comets and was the first to prove that Uranus was a planet instead of a comet). "(...)
