= Good copy of the pioneering work on infographics. It was published by Otto Neurath, in close cooperation with Gerd Arntz, who had become Head of the Graphics Department in 1929 of Neurath's Vienna based Gesellschafts- und Wirtschaftsmuseum. Other people involved in this magnificent production were i.a. Peter Alma, Franz Seiwert, Jan Tschichold and Augustin Tschinkel (cf. Behnke p.6). This atlas is the first scientific approach to come to an International System Of TYographic Picture Education (isotype). The 100 sheets with the coloured pictograms are of great educational, as well as great artistic value. In Neurath's own words: "Das vorliegende bildstatistische Elementarwerk 'Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft' ist der erste systematische Versuch, auf Grund sorgfältiger Bearbeitung und Verknüpfung vorhandener Daten und Kombinationen aller Art, den Augen ein buntes Bild der heutigen Menschheitszivilisation zu geben (...).
