Was einmal Diebesgut war, konnte durch glückliche Umstände in recht frischen Farben überdauern, bis die Blätter 1896 in den Louvre gelangten (...), während der Kodex selbst 1904 in den Flammen eines Bibliotheksbrandes unterging. Nach Reproduktionen von Ing. Gerardo Molfese aus dem Jahr 1902 werden in dieser Edition auch die verbrannten Miniaturen wiedergegeben." (preface).
