= SIGNED in pencil by Irma Boom on last free endpaper. Boom/ Lommen 48. The English edition of the famous SHV-book, published to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Steenkolen Handels Vereeniging. It was designed by Irma Boom and was awarded several prizes, but was never for sale. The production of the book took 5 years of research and design, and the result is overwhelming in its abundance of illustrations, its graphic design and ideas. The book measures 23x18 cm., is 12 cm. thick, weighs 3,5 kg. and has 8 ribbons. Its fore-edge is decorated with tulips when viewed from one side and shows a poem by Gerrit Achterberg when viewed from the other side to mention just one of the many features. It is a story of abandonment and love, of sickness and health, and of a marriage in transit. In this bright-yellow, 1200-page volume, world-renowned designer Irma Boom carefully and thoroughly retraces the journey of a lifetime. Her Yellow Book is a monument to book design, and an epic family portrait" (jamesjennifergeorgina.com).

= Boom/ Lommen 136. "Liber amicorum. An unusual visual representation of the life of a captain of industry. It started as a small booklet, but it grew and grew... The book is built around a core of more than 200 letters from Frits's friends. These letters are printed on the inside of the thin paper fold-outs. They were the guide for what can be seen on the outside. The result is poetic and true to his roots." Publication on the occasion of the 70th birthday of F.H. Fentener van Vlissingen (1933-2006).
