= Rare. Poortman II, 30, 2a. Poortman calls for 233 plates in the first edition of 1648, which appeared in sm. obl. 4to; for the second edition 13 plates by P. HOLSTEYN were added.

= Rare first edition of this extremely popular hieroglyphic children's bible.

= Poortman II, p.146f. Copied after the prints by Matthias Scheits originally publ. Lüneburg, 1672 (the so-called "Scheitsbibel"). This series was included in a number of Dutch bibles published in the 1st half of the 18th cent.

= W. Zaal, Gerard Bilders. Vrolijk versterven. Een keuze uit zijn dagboek en brieven (introd.): "Dit geschrift is, vóór alles, van intieme aard. Niets erin is voor de druk bedoeld geweest (...) De eerste uitgaaf, enkele jaren na zijn dood in 1865, droeg dan ook het karakter van een souvenir. Het werk kwam niet in de handel en had een oplaag in de buurt van honderd exemplaren. Desondanks is het nooit herdrukte werk noch verdwenen noch vergeten. De zeldzame exemplaren zijn met zorg van de ene generatie naar de volgende doorgegeven en vormen een 'geheime tip' onder mensen die in buitengewone boeken belang stellen. De reden blijkt wel uit de tekst, die de geschiedenis van een ziel beschrijft; de ziel van een hoogbegaafde, zeer spirituele en gevoelige jongen, die aan armoede, ziekte [Bilders overleed in 1865 op 26-jarige leeftijd aan tuberculose] en onbegrip ten onder ging. Wie het boek leest moet erom lachen, schreef Vincent van Gogh, maar in één adem liet hij volgen dat hij er beroerd van werd (...) over geen enkel Nederlands boek heeft Vincent met zoveel Hassliebe uitgeweid, ongetwijfeld omdat Gerard hem na stond en hem met zijn melancholie bedreigde. (...) het was een uitkomst toen in 1856 een vermogende beschermer opdaagde, de letterkundige Johannes Kneppelhout (...). [Gerard] was bij al zijn vrolijkheid diep ongelukkig - het was het spleen der romantici, en zo oprecht en haast kinderlijk beleden dat wie het leest erin deelneemt (...)." The first edition was published in a very small number of copies for private circulation only. The second edition also published in an unspecified small number of copies; the work was not reprinted until the abridged edition by W. Zaal of 1974. Rare.

= A rare example of a remarkable delicate kind of binding with very refined silverwork decoration.
= The clasps and catches in the shape of flower baskets and rocailles, monogrammed "I. E." (Jantien Elses) and "1789". With manuscript family entries, dated between 1792-1854, of Jantien Elses and Jan Jans Baas and their children.
- Upper hinge weak; paper cutting from auction catalogue mounted on first blank.
= Remarkable binding, made for Cornelis van Twist (1741-1823) as one of the governors of the Nieuw Spin- en Werkhuis in Amsterdam (listed on p.38 of the Naamwyzer under the year 1789). The silverwork is by Johan Hendrik Schiotling or otherwise by his brother Andreas, who used the same moulds for another almanac given to governor Floris Kramp in 1802 (https://am.adlibhosting.com/ais6v2/Details/museum/33411).
