= Caroline Hartman was married to C.L. Hartman, the Resident of Magelang (central Java). The first text leaf contains a dedication from the Resident to his wife: "Album met hart en ziel toegewijd aan mijne Caroline door haar oprecht liefhebbende echtgenoot, [signature] Kadoe 25 Februarij 1836". The drawings include a very fine watercolour by FRANZ JUNGHUHN depicting the Residential home (15,8x28,3 cm., signed "Fr. Junghuhn 1840", w. dedication "An mevrouw Hartmann. Hochachtungsvoll von F. Iunghuhn." and "Wie dieser Weringinbaum (Ficus Benjamina L.), der vor Ihrem Hause zu Magelan steht, nie seine Blätter verliert, so möge Ihr Leben ununterbrochen grünen!") (SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LXXVI), a pencil drawing by FREDERIK DEELEMAN ("Het Residentie-huis te Soerakarta", 10x26 cm., signed "F. Deeleman fecit 1845") and fine drawings by H.(?) de Mol van Otterloo, W.F. van Reede van Oudtshoorn, E. Hartvelt(?), J.M. Scott(?) and a few anonymous/ illegibly signed.
