69/6317 [Worldmaps]. "Planisphaerium Terrestre, Sive Terrarum Orbis (...). Vlakke Aard-kloot, gemeenlyk genaamd De Geheele Waereld (...)." Handcol. engr. map 52x59,5 cm., Amst., C. Allard, 1696 or later, framed.

- Three sides trimmed to the borderline and remargined; some small marginal tears; some sl. soiling.

= Shirley 578: "The traditional decorative border of many seventeenth-century world maps has disappeared, and Allard's twin central hemispheres are surrounded by eight smaller projections depicting the world from various angles, and four smaller circular diagrams. The dark cross-hatched background provides a striking contrast, and similar maps were to be produced in the early eighteenth century by Schenk, Zürner, Homann and Seutter." Very rare. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CLXXVII.
