- Ex-library copy: bookplate on upper pastedown and stamp on verso title-p.; foxed; plates waterstained in inner blank margin, not affecting image/ text. Paper over spine dam.; paper ticket on frontcover; covers sl. discol.

= First published Paris, 1836. Cf. Gay/Lemonnier I, 803; Cf. Hayn/Got. VI, 91: "Nach jeder Beziehung hin eine vorzügliche Schrift; überraschende Resultate langjähriger mühevoller Untersuchungen. Vergriffen!" Neither bibliography mentions the described edition, both state the existence of counterfeit editions. There are editions with a portrait of the author (i.a. ed. Paris, 1836), but also without (i.a. counterfeit ed. Brussels, 1836). Our copy probably a counterfeit.
