76/2064 [Bindings]. 18th cent. richly gilt full red morocco, w. gilt text "Joannes de Kruif en den egt vereenigt met Anna Maria v,d, Kroon op Dinsdag, den 5 Juny 1764" on both covers within lozenge-shaped central ornament, surrounded by a double gilt floral and ornamental roll border on both covers, filled in with gilt tooled stars and flowers, spine w. 5 raised bands and richly gilt compartments w. floral decoration, gilt inside dentelles, gilt boardedges, a.e.g. - ON: Het leven der getrouwden, of de Verbintenissen der génen die zig begeeven tot den Houwelyken staet. Antw., J. van Soest, 1741, (24),527,(1),67,(1)p.

- Joints worn w. some chafings and starting at spine-ends; top of spine restored; two tiny wormholes on frontcover; "Op Dinsdags" on both covers cut out and replaced; sl. rubbed along extremities.

= With the manuscript dedication on 2 lvs. bound at the beginning (partly lacking outer margins), dated June 5th 1764 in Culemborg ("Kulenburg"). The manuscript dedication by Adrianus Johannes Broekman suggests that this binding for Joannes de Kruif and his wife Anna Maria was commissioned on the occasion of their wedding. One roll on the binding identified from the Leaf Outline Bindery (see Storm van Leeuwen IIA, p.126ff). SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE XCI.
