= Lizzy Ansingh knew Lina Eudia Pierson (1859-1951) through their mutual acquaintance, the artist Catharina Kool with whom Ansingh attended the Rijksacademie at Amsterdam. Lina Pierson lived at Huize Kernhem in Ede, where Catharina Kool lived and worked from 1931 onwards. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE XVI.
