= Interesting manuscript with very skillful drawings, describing and showing in detail the so-called "Line of Kings" in the Tower of London, created in the 17th century and known to be one of the earliest museum exhibits. It was installed for King Charles II by the Royal Armouries to promote the restored monarchy. The historic armours were displayed on life-like wooden figures, including those of Henry VIII, Charles I and later James II, in a parade of carved horses. Nothing could be traced on the manuscript, which on the one hand describes the exhibited items, but also gives extensive historical background information. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LXVI.
