From the library of Albert Kuyle, with his circular ticket ("A.K.") on upper pastedown. With AUTOGRAPH DEDICATION: ""van iedere reis terug nog eer de reis begon" Voor Magda [= Magdalena van Rees, with whom Kuyle married in 1929] op haar zeventiende verjaardag. Van jouw hart naar jouw hart en daartusschen was de woestijn. Mijn liefste, neem dit boek van acht maanden leven, waarin niet een dag zonder liefde voor jouw [sic] is voorbijgegaan. Bid, terwijl ik schrijf, want zonder jou kan ik niet één van de dingen doen waarvan ik droom... 1 november 27." The author's copy, with 22 extra leaves bound at the end with a large number of tipped-in memorabilia etc. related to the journey Kuyle made with Albert Helman and concerning the book. Contains i.a. the original portrait drawing (pen and ink, 14x9 cm., monogrammed "vR") of Kuyle by OTTO VAN REES, used in reduced size on the introd. p.6 of the book; an original woodcut by JOZEF CANTRÉ (9,3x6,3 cm., signed, "1927" and "Handdruk" in pencil; sl. foxed), used on the wrappers of the book); 5 original drawings (pen and ink) by GER. HUYSSER (used in the book); furthermore hotel receipts, tickets, telegrams (requesting money, i.a.
