78/6198 Bos, Jasper or Casper van den (1634-±1656). (Freight and fishing barges sailing along a waterfront). Drawing on panel, lime layer, pen/ brush and ink, 32,5x49,6 cm., signed(?) "JJ.vanden. bos" near lower edge.

- Soiled along edges; a few chafed spots, shallow scratches.

= Perhaps the Grote Kerk of Haarlem in the background. The large ship on the left carries a flag with the coat of arms of Haarlem. Works by this artist are very rare. From the collection of C.G. 't Hooft, former curator of Museum Fodor, with his manuscript collector's mark ("Hft. oct. 1921") on verso. According to his annotations on verso bought by him from "[art dealer Jacob?] Vas Diaz" (Amsterdam) in 1921. Formerly owned by a notary "Mabé te Haarlem" (perhaps Pieter Mabé junior).
