- Fine.
= Connelly is most associated with the pattern and decoration trend of the mid-70s in high contrast to the popular minimal and conceptual schools of the time. His shout-out to and embellishment of everyday objects is a nod to the American pop Art tradition. Along with other East Village denizens David Wajnarowicz, Keith Haring, Nicholas Moufarrege and Martin Wong, Connelly was part of an explicitly gay art movement. This collage was used on the cover of the periodical Flash Art in the early 90's and depicted in the periodical Bomb (no.40, 1992). Provenance: bought by the present owner from Galerie OZ (Jean Luc Richard), Paris (now: Galerie Richard). This lot is subject to 4% resale royalties ('droit de suite') over the total amount of hammerprice and buyer's premium. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE VII.
