84/3338 Peeters, Henk (1925-2013). Struisveer. #62-22. Mixed media, ostrich feather on stretched plastic foil, 104x49 cm., signed "Henk Peeters" in black pen on verso, part of stamp "Henk Peeters. Het Leusveld (...)" on verso, framed in white painted wood.

- A few small imperfections in/ on the plastic foil, nevertheless fine.

= Very rare, no variation of the 'Struisveer' has been on the market for many years. Peeters created this work while he was a member of Zero movement. Peeters claims: "Wij proberen onze eigen tijd te zien en zichtbaar te maken." By doing so he made use of materials that were unorthodox for the time, such as cotton wool, synthetic fur, and feathers. The only publicly known variation of the 'Struisveer' is currently in the collection of the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven (#62-23, 1962, inv. no.659). Literature: Henk Peeters (Leporello publ. by Stichting Kunst op Kamers, 2003), no.9 (#62-22); R. Damsch-Wiehager, Nul. De werkelijkheid als kunst funderen (Hatje Cantz, 1993), conform illustrated work on p.93 (#62-23); M. van Mechelen and J. Jobse, Echt Peeters. Henk Peeters, realist, avant-gardist (De Kunst, 2011), cf. 106 (#62-23). Provenance: bought directly from the artist by the present owner. With a label of Galerie Neher, Essen, on verso of the frame. The artwork is sold with a custom-made wooden box w. a hinging lid. This lot is subject to 4% resale royalties ('droit de suite') over the total amount of hammerprice and buyer's premium. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE ON TITLE-PAGE.
