84/ 416 KNUST. Collection of 110 publications (incl. 10 duplicates), Nijm., KNUST, 1984-2021, all col. stencil-printed in a limited number of copies (partly numb.), various sizes and (partly ingeniously folded/ assembled) shapes.

= A remarkable, extensive collection; as far as we could see, the largest that has ever come up on the market. (Very) rare publications by the Nijmegen artists' collective KNUST, that was founded in 1983. It emerged from the squatting and punk movement and made a name for itself worldwide with striking, entirely original stencil art. Between 1983 and 1987, KNUST operated from the colorfully painted squat De Westland. "KNUST colour stencil work has been leading the world for decades. KNUST publications are held in museum collections nationally and internationally, from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London to the MoMA in New York, and have been sought after by collectors of special prints and artist books for decades. KNUST played a major role in the global, still rapidly growing popularity of digital stenciling among artists and graphic designers." (quoted from an article by Anne Nijtmans, 'Knust: eigenzinnige drukkunst met wortels in de Nijmeegse kraakbeweging', In: De Gelderlander, 14 March. 2019).
